Botox ® and dermal fillers are two aesthetic treatments that reduce the appearance of wrinkles and allow your skin to have a younger, rejuvenated look. Which one will offer you the results you want with the least risk? And how do you know which choice is right for your face and your expectations?

Dr. Winnie King and the rest of our team at Winnie King, MD Aesthetic and Wellness want to ensure that you achieve the results you’re looking for with the most effective treatment. We’d like to share this information about Botox and fillers.

The scoop on Botox

Botox is an injectable cosmetic treatment that’s most effective for smoothing the appearance of forehead wrinkles, frown lines between the eyebrows, and crow’s feet. It can temporarily improve the look of these wrinkles, although multiple treatments every 3-6 months are usually necessary for prolonged results. The treatment relaxes the muscles in the areas where wrinkles are pronounced, reducing the muscle movements, and as a result, the visibility of wrinkles.

We offer both BotoxⓇ Cosmetic and DysportⓇ brands of botulinum toxin injections. Most people see impressive results from Botox, including smoother, younger-looking skin. Doctors have been using Botox for decades, so there is a vast amount of literature on its effects and benefits.

The facts on fillers

We offer the Juvederm® and Restylane® dermal fillers, and both are effective for treating facial wrinkles. Fillers are most often used for treating smile lines and scarring, as well as wrinkles on the hands. They can also be used to plump the lips and cheeks, creating a more youthful appearance.

Depending on your specific needs, you and Dr. King decide on which filler to use and what areas to treat. The results of dermal fillers can last between six and 18 months.

Dermal fillers typically last longer than Botox and are considered to be as effective at reducing wrinkles. You still need to have touch-up treatments periodically in order to maintain your long-term effects.

Botox or fillers: Making the best decision for you

Every face is different, and you deserve to see the results you want by using the treatment option that best suits you. Botox and fillers are usually used on different issues and various parts of the face, so it’s important to keep this in mind. Dr. King can assess your unique needs and make recommendations about Botox and fillers.

Getting both Botox and fillers

In some situations, it’s better to get both treatments in order to achieve results that improve the overall look of your face. Dr. King may recommend Botox for your forehead and eye areas and dermal fillers to treat areas on the lower part of your face. Be assured that you’ll receive the most personalized advice possible before making your final decision.
