Losing weight isn’t easy, especially as you get older. And even if you’re successful, there may be some areas that still aren’t the way you want them to be. The Contour Light system can help you achieve your weight-loss goals without surgery, and get those troubled spots looking great.
At Winnie King, MD, Aesthetics and Wellness in Shenandoah and Houston, Texas, we always advise you to eat right and exercise. But we also know that these good habits don’t always deliver complete results. When you get stuck near the end of your weight-loss journey, Dr. King may suggest the nonsurgical Contour Light, a body contouring system, to get rid of those stubborn areas of fat.
Get light with light
The Contour Light treatment is a noninvasive procedure that uses LED light, and works on almost any body part, including: a double chin, thighs, flanks, hips, love handles, and belly fat. It’s a great alternative to liposuction, which may be more productive, but is a lot more involved and extensive. The high energy of the infrared light allows your cells to release the fat with no damage to the skin cells, which can be damaged by heat. Your body then metabolizes the fat and flushes it out naturally as waste.
You’ll notice a difference after the first treatment, but the process is gradual and you’ll want a few treatments to get your ideal results. It’s essential to eat well and stay active after the procedure to keep your new shape and the weight off, so Dr. King includes a healthy eating plan as part of our services. One advantage to noninvasive weight loss is that you can be active again almost immediately.
Benefits of the Contour Light system
In contrast to traditional cosmetic surgery, there are many other benefits with the Contour Light system, like no anesthesia, incisions, or recovery time. Each in-office treatment is about 30 minutes and done while you’re lying down and relaxing under the system’s pads, which are contoured to each body part that’s being worked on. Your skin absorbs the infrared energy, that then moves into the subcutaneous fat and destroys it. This is the fat right below the skin, but above the muscle.
You’ll continue to see positive results, but it takes 12-16 weeks for the body to fully rid itself of the dead fat. This makes your weight loss look natural, instead of drastic. Many patients prefer the subtlety of this procedure.
While some people may experience some minor pain afterwards, including irritation, swelling, soreness, or bruising in the treated areas, most people leave pain free. Dr. King follows up and advises you on how many treatments will be needed to achieve your weight-loss goals. Body contouring may be the answer you’ve been looking for.
